summary by Tariq Bseiso

In the article “the revolution will not be polite: the issue of nice versus good” the author, Racheal, tried to divulge the conflation between niceness and goodness in context of social justice to portray that niceness is used as a veil to hide racism.  Moreover, Rachael tried to rebel against the fact that “niceness” indicates the ethical conduct “goodness” as a way to achieve social justice. The hat power has been granted to tyrants who set the standards for social justice therefore being “nice” is only used to inflict harm on the oppressed people of the society (women, homosexuals, transsexuals) and force them to ask for their basic rights as human beings “politely”. Rachael emphasized on the importance of eradicating the barriers this amalgamation of terms caused to exploit our rights and opportunities equally without any labels. Rachael also articulates that the underprivileged must start viewing things in different light, people who deliver the insults in a “nice” manner are enemies just like any oppressor. Furthermore, this fusion marginalizes the society into social hierarchies and has obfuscated the real meaning of privilege. All in all, obliterating this molded image of social justice that forces our society to be “nicer” is a duty since it is inhibiting our minds with toxic mindset. She also reflected the importance to differentiate between goodness and niceness. Wake up; the revolution should not be polite anymore!

  1. Check moodle for grade. The main idea is a little too specific, and don't use her terms "conflation". Don't quote in summary. "inhibiting our minds" is an example of how your wording misrepresents the text. Its close but the grammar and sentence structures are hard to read.
