Glorifying Terrorists and Terror

“Palestinian Media Watch is an Israeli research institute that studies Palestinian society from a broad range of perspectives by monitoring and analyzing the Palestinian Authority through its media and schoolbooks” (PMW). One of the PMW’s published articles, titled “Glorifying Terrorists and Terror, depicts that Palestinians tend to glorify “terrorists as heroes and role models” in order to “[promote] terror”. In other words, PWA shuns the idea that Palestinians, who have been severely oppressed by Israelis, attain some redemption by attacking their enemies; and instead, expedite the idea that Palestinians are in fact terrorists.  In additions, PWA exploits the Palestinian situation by saying that “[t]errorists who killed 3 are ‘Martyrs’” (PMW).  Thus, this Israeli research institute uses weak analogical fallacies—for they do not take into consideration that the Palestinian attackers, who died, were trying to defend their country; but instead, PMW views the aforementioned Palestinians as terrorists. Also, PMW has managed to stoop extensively low—to the extent they ridiculed the Palestinian’s act by being sarcastic. This was evident through the headline “Murder of two civilians on bus was ‘self-sacrifice operations”. Henceforth, PMW seems to be rather bias and prejudice—by which they manipulate the reality of the situation for their own benefits.

Most of the world seems to be captivated by the idea of being “pro-Palestinian” –in the sense that the majority sympathizes with Palestine against Israel. This impression is suggested due to the lack of equal media coverage—where Palestinians receive more media coverage, when attacked, than Israelis do. Consequently, an Israeli research institute, called Palestinian Media Watch, publishes documented attacks by Palestinians. This act is rather justifiable because Israelis also have the right to demonstrate the form of subjugation they endure. Henceforth, PMW manages to logically support their claims by providing distinct statistical figures; such as the idea that “[a] poll conducted after the murder of eight teenagers who were studying in a Jerusalem high school in 2008, found that 84% of Palestinians supported the murder” and “terrorists killed 37 civilians, 12 of them children” (PMW). In addition, PMW is capable of emotionally appealing to readers through the publication of effective language. An example of the aforesaid linguistic style is portrayed in the following headline: “Hamas celebrates Jerusalem bus terror attack that killed 2 with reenactment video”. This headline effectually portrays how Palestinians made a mockery of a tragic event—and even worse turned into some sort of merriment. Unfortunately, this type of behavior cannot but only be called terrorism. For who would be horrendous enough to celebrate the death of people? Therefore, PMW is one of the few establishments that portray the truth that happens on the other side.

personal note: as a Palestinian i would never justify the brutal acts we are exposed to, this is just to satisfy the assignment needs. Palestinians are fighting for their rights. Innocent children, men, and women are dying everyday by the Israelis. Please watch the following links:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NrcxOEeifxM
