Malala is a
young girl from Pakistan who got shot by the Talibans and stood up for
education. Her story has been all over the media since the beginning, and she
is considered to be the bravest girl in the world.
Her injuries
and health problems were treated in a hospital in Birmingham UK.
Carol Anne
Grayson is the author of the text “Brand Malala”: Western Exploitation of a
SchoolGirl.
She has
studied the process of terrorism in Pakistan and Malala’s story. A story of
courage, and evolution; a fight for Equality and peace, etc…
However,
Carol sees the story in another perspective. Being a british writer, she wants
to convey a message as if it is a warning. What about Gender justice back home?
What about all the men that should support Women rights and women’s rights for
education? What about all the other victims ?
As for the
emotional perspective, she is clearly angry and frustrated about the lack of
answers, and wants to show her readers the bigger picture of this whole story
of heroism. Not everything is showed in the media. Malala is sometimes being
exploited by companies who claim to support gender justice.

The text is
written in small paragraphs in where the precise ideas are developed in an
argumentative way. The rethorical mode is impersonal, and Carol is often using
rethorical questions, small sentences, and a bit of irony, to express her
opinions on the subjects, as well as the informative facts she wants us to
know.
On the
logical perspective, it is evident that the author is admirative of Malala’s
work but opens up the subject of exploitation and injustice over other women.
She uses a deductive mode, because she starts with the general idea , and progressively
points out the cases where exploitation and injustice were revealed.
Finally, for
the ethical perspective, the moral values are mainly justice and equality.
Malala is working for the betterment of the world , and shouldn’t be exploited
to hide other victims or cases, or to help companies who are not truly devoted
to her work and values.

ReplyDeletesocial: from what I could gather is (it isnt clear) the social issues discussed dont reflect the ideas in the text but the background of malala.
emotional: its good but examples would help
rhetorical: is weak there is so much to say and you dont develop it or justify it
logical: what about women in the UK she talks about them a lot, your ideas repeat a lot
ethical: good
