In the article “The Apple Argument Against Abortion “, the
writer is against abortion as obvious. He challenged readers or any of the
opponents to criticize his argument and to show his fallacies. As a reader, I disagree
with his point of view, for he has many weaknesses in proving it.Moreover he
gave many unconvincing arguments such that the: “the arguments of nonexistence of
non-persons”. First of all, the writer’s strongest argument is that abortion is
equal to murder, in which he said:” Mother Teresa argued if abortion is not wrong,
nothing is wrong. ”Abortion is often formed as a mercy bestowed upon a teenager
who has committed the "crime” of having had sex.Teenagers in their young ages,
are not yet ready to take over such a great responsibility .Keeping a fetus in
such age will ruin the mother’s educational
and social life, and overwhelm them with great responsibilities thy are incapable
of handling. Therefore pregnancy is incredibly taxing on the body, particularly
those of young women. In addition, to make a woman with no real capacity to
look after a child (financially, emotionally...) because of your sense of morality
seems at least extremely arrogant: ”unhappy mothers, unhappy baby”. Moreover,
women don’t have to be with an unwanted or life threatening pregnancy to
benefit from abortion .Major birth defects that the child will never survive
more than a year from and suffer the whole time, enforces abortion. Therefore, by focusing human
culture on the idea that “person rights “are more important than:" human rights “, we are denying the rights of the moms.Another
reason to allow abortion is rape. It does seem unbelievably mean to saddle a
woman to the reminder of her rapist for the rest of her life. Last but not
least, women own their own bodies and must not be obliged to clarify to people
whom have decided to enforce their own morality and beliefs...Her body, her choice !
On the other hand, the writer's text is somehow believable,
in which he seemed logic by giving convincing reasons, that convinced me
with some of his points of view. Abortion may be wrong, because at the end what
we have to remember is that there are two completely innocent human beings involved.
Even in such unwanted circumstances, it is wrong to allow one to kill another.
It is wrong to kill a two month old unborn baby who has conceived in rape, as
such as it is in killing a two years old baby. As the writer said: ‘both
pro-lifers and pro-choicers usually agree that it’s wrong to kill innocent
persons against their will”. God gave us the blessing of children and kept away
from others... so why would we reject a gift from god? Another reason I agree
with the writer with is that:” Metaphysics means simply philosophizing about
reality. The sixth principle means that rights depend on reality, and our
knowledge of rights depends on our knowledge of reality”. In my opinion the
main reason to agree with the writer is that of the human rights, in which at
the end of the day morals won’t give you a life...but refusing abortion will..
