Euthanasia
Wealth and sons are the adornment of our life, and it is difficult for parents to see their children suffering from an incurable diseases and unbearable agony without offering help. Therefore, some parents despair from healing their children resort to Euthanasia as a last option. Euthanasia is the accelerator of someone’s life to free him/her from pain and suffering. The heartbroken mother Linda Van Roy from Schilde, Belgium, said that she couldn’t see her little baby suffering from pain and fading in front of her eyes without doing anything, she considered that parents who have terminally ill children must have the right to resort to Euthanasia as a final solution to relief their children’s agony. Van Roy said: “We want those children to be able to talk about euthanasia, and if they really want to say: "Stop, this is it. I don’t want it anymore; we want people to have a choice".

Actually, Euthanasia is a very crucial option, and I don’t agree with that bereaved mother to end her baby’s life. In fact, Life is bliss from God, and the human spirit is a given gift from Allah to humankind to live by. So the decision of death is absolutely beyond human ability, and it is only subject to God’s will. Nowadays, some countries as Netherland, Belgium, and Luxembourg have legalized euthanasia under certain conditions, but others haven’t yet. Doctor Gerlant Van Berlaer from the Free University Brussels claimed that since euthanasia is impermissible yet, most of the cases are done behind the doors. Berlaer said:"Doctors do terminate the lives, of children as well as adults, but today it’s done in a gray zone or in the dark because it’s illegal. Moreover, medical science progresses daily, and we mustn’t lose hope, because God’s will is above the will of everyone. There are a lot of cases of patients who were in a hopeless state of recovery, but they have lived for years after they were dying. The palliative nurse Sonia Develter, who is specialized in end-of-life care, said that : “The main concern for children is always for the family, and it’s difficult for a child, because he feels he’s slipping away, but he cannot tell his parents as that‘s not what they want to hear”. Which means that most of the children didn’t wish to pass away soon, and that they were only worried about their families. Also,it is difficult for doctors, for parents, or even for the patients themselves to decide that they had reached to a hopeless end, since it is possible for the patient who has no cure today to be cured tomorrow, and the doctor’s task is to protect patient’s life and to follow –up treatment by all possible means.
If we want to discuss this issue from another angle, indeed, I understand the mother’s attitude very well, and I also sympathy with her. She is a mother; she is acting as usual mothers do. A mother can’t afford the vision of her baby dying in front of her; she can’t bear to hear the voices of her child groaning from the pain. Really it is something unbearable to feel powerless and desperate. Furthermore, Euthanasia has rational justifications, it helps to end the agony and pains of the patient, reduces the spread of diseases, removes the financial burden on parents or relatives, and it also gives a patient the right to self-determination.
We all know that life is a challenge, and we all have passed through calamitous events and suffered a lot in our life, but it is how we deal with such hardships and not to run away just because we are afraid to face them. Finally , there is no right to anyone to decide his/her destiny or even the fate of another. I don’t imagine that I make a decision to terminate someone's life and spend the rest of my life wondering to myself if I had killed him or not.
