In the text “
Brand Malala: Wester exploitation of a schoolgirl”, the social perspective is
that the text is mentioning a social problem which is that the corruption of
the society in Pakistan. Under this problem there is another problem which is
that the gender equality and justice are destructive because of Taliban and its
behaviors. People usually and especially men are not encouraged to improve the
situation of women.
In the emotional perspective, the writer does not accept
Malala to be exploited in the west while others are suppressed. In addition,
the writer’s tone is considered to be sensitive about the topic. She gives a
nice face for Malala, and presents her in a positive way.
The text is persuasive. The rhetorical mode is impersonal because
the writer addresses a problem which is Malala with gender justice, and how
Malala becomes exploited. Grayson uses the quotation marks a lot to express her
idea. The same as the quotation marks, the sentences are used to deliver her
point of view. She also tries an ambiguous and ironic way to let us think more what
she is talking about.
In the logical perspective, the method which is used by Grayson
is the deductive method because she starts firstly by mentioning her thesis or
her general idea then she supports her idea by justifications, explanations and
examples.
Lastly, it is obvious that Grayson wants justice, and wants
other people to be heard as Malala. The problem with Malala is that she is a
title for a social issue but some people made it marketable.
