hajar dirani(summary)

The article “The Revolution Will Not Be Polite: The Issue of Nice Verses Good” written by Rachael debates a controversial problem created by the confusion of the meaning of Goodness and Niceness. The writer states that a just and equal world is not necessary the same as a “nicer” world. In fact, niceness shouldn’t be equated to cooperation and collaboration. Moreover, she goes over this debate to say that the people shouldn’t acquaint social justice as only niceness, because, indeed, people will misinterpret the meaning of privilege. In order to illustrate this misinterpretation, she elucidates that privilege is the rights and opportunities given to specific people by laws and socio-cultural norms, where as marginalization is the denial of these rights and opportunities.Furthermore, the writer emphasizes the importance of the trial to debunk the confusion between goodness and niceness, because it is dangerous for people and” especially women”.   In conclusion, Rachael ends up by saying that this social movement won’t successes only by making the world a nicer place but by taking back the rights and opportunities denied to people by laws or social and cultural norms.
